live naked live proud

Hey friends,

It’s Buck. I was thinking today about nudist/naturist resorts, and how anybody of any age, race or background can be a nudist. But yet, I fear a lot of people don’t feel that way. There are a lot of nudists/naturists that I think don’t get enough notice. For instance, I know that there are a lot of older nudists who tend to be rather edgy towards younger nudists, especially single men. There’s a number of nudist resorts that only cater to couples, and not singles. And of course, there’s a number of nudist resorts that don’t cater to children under 18. If we shun people away, how can we get more people into nudism, especially the younger crowds?

Being a young single male nudist myself, I do not understand why there is this disconnect, and it kind of hurts my feelings–especially if I cannot go into a nudist resort because I’m a young single man.

I think the reason for this disconnect is just the fact that a lot of older nude adult couples have different ideas and interests than younger ones. I also think that a lot of older people fear that a lot of younger nudists are sexually active, and do not understand what nudism is about. I fear that a lot of older people think, oh a young person—we’re not going to be able to connect, they’re a lot different than us, all they think about is sex and their testosterone and that’s not what we’re about, so let’s just ignore them, let’s shoo them away. And why is it that a lot of nudist resorts do not allow those under 18? I think it has to do with a lot of clothed society keeping young children away from nudity, because of society making us believe that nudity is something sexual, which young children should not see. In return, a lot of younger people misunderstand nudist/naturist resorts, thinking they’re just for hippies and older people, and that’s the population that seems to be shown throughout much of nudist media and whatnot. And a lot of younger people fear they won’t fit in because the older nudists are “different than them” and they have different ideas of fun. Because of that, each age seems to block each other out.

The one thing that gets me about this disconnect is that if people continue to be stuck up like this, how are we going to better welcome younger nudists into our great lifestyle? Not that I’m trying to change anybody or any resort in any way, but I just feel there are a lot of younger nudists out there that do not get enough credit, and the older nudists aren’t giving them a chance. How can we bridge this gap?

I know that organizations like the Young Naturists of America (YNA) have started doing this, bringing notice to younger adult nudists, but I feel it’s not enough. There are lots of areas of the US the YNA does not cover yet, especially where I live in Michigan.

If we are going to continue this great nude way of life, we need to find ways to attract the younger crowd and keep them coming back.

I would like to hear your take on why you think there is such a disconnect, and what can be done about it, and how we can help attract more young people into our way of life. What do you think? Why do you think a lot of older nudists aren’t very welcoming to younger nudists? How do you think we can change that? I’d like to hear from you.

Best to all, and stay nude.

-Buck
